Its decent. And its probably Vista, because if it was a Mac, Im sure you would know. And if it was Linux, you would most likely know that as well.

They arent able to sell Laptops with XP, unless it doesnt have the spec to run Vista or its a third world country. A few places offer XP, but they still have to include a Vista license. They simply charge you for Vista, then charge you again for XP, then charge you an extra fee to downgrade it. Thats how it is, and thats how MS requires it. Edit: As for RAM, 3gb will be fine. And be happy its Vista! That system should run it good, and you will probably love it. Just be sure to disable UAC if you find it annoying. Its probably Vista x32, so getting more RAM would be pointless, since it wouldnt recognize more than 3gb.

So far it looks decent, what kind of graphics does it have? Integrated would drag you down, dedicated is where is ideal.
