I just got given the job of maintaining the 5ft tank in the school science office.

The only problem is, I don't know what fish to put in it.

The tank won't be monitored at all, will very rarely be cleaned (once a month or so?), and contains alot of snails and algae. The fish I put in there must thus be damn hardy, and also capable of eating off a feeder block or something over the holidays.

Well... really, you just have to worry about getting it started. Once it gets going, it will be much easier to run on it's own and not have to clean it so often.

Definitely use fresh water fish. Avoid goldfish like the plague...

I'm not sure, but a lot of the fish suited to low maintenance outdoor ponds and water features are pretty durable.

Bichirs. They hardy as fuck cuz they breathe air, and you can get em at most pet shops. They're like $7 at petsmart for a lil one but they get to about a foot, and they look like lil alligators. I have 2 and they're baller as fuck.
