They usually take about a week to start working.

It's different for everyone. I'd consider waiting about a week to see if they'll kick in.

They take a few weeks (on average) to "work". Before that, you might get some side effects that make you feel anxious, high, depressed or tired.

Don't expect them to start working right away. They need time to do their thing.

From what I've looked up and experienced, anti-depressants don't really 'work' beyond a broad blunt effect. The placebo effect probably takes awhile to kick in for most people, though. Basically, I'm just saying don't expect any positive results. These aren't medicines that treat any 'disease'. It sounds like you're relying on them for something, in which case I'd recommend doing something else. I honestly don't know your situation so I can't think of what to recommend, but I beat depression on my own without drugs when all the psychiatrists clained I had a 'genetic disorder' and would relapse. I think a lot of people do relapse, but there's such thing as transcending depression. But anyway, as much of a callous bastard I am now, I'm here if you need me.
on any topic about psychology, always take hss's posts with a grain of salt, and a few more pinches of salt.

my opinions are well thought out because I've 'believed' exactly what other people believed in the past

thinking a lot doesn't mean you aren't biased. a "reformed attitude" probably makes you more biased, if anything.
